You can spend Gold Coins on upgrades or new ships.  Controls are very simple 1: Tap on the water (Right Half of screen) to set new direction for the ship 2: Drag (Left Half of screen) for sailing 3: Press the buttons (right corner at bottom) to bomb the enemy ships from left and right cannons.  Live the epic pirate life, raise the black flag and loot a merchant ship loaded with gold or set sail on quest to battle a slave ship.
