Destroy Turtle Island

The game revolves around the ancient native American mythology of a Coyote. Coyote is used as the mascot of the game and along with his great power, he vows to trick people into destroying Turtle Island. Due to Coyote’s endless and devious powers, players are tricked into following his evil plans. Hence, the more they destroy Turtle Island, the more points they are rewarded by the Coyote and the more their planet gets affected. The idea of the game is to show and educate people on the actual harm that falls on the planet and on other species as a result to the wrong actions that they take throughout the course of the mini games. The app is a simulation to real life, that shows people the consequences of their own actions on the planet and how it harms the environment around them. It consists of 5 different mini games with different game mechanics and aesthetics. In the first game, the player tries to get rid of as much waste as possible in a certain amount of time. The game takes places on an island setup and shows the consequences of each object and how long it stays in the environment before completely decomposing, which highlights the effect of how everyday wastes can impact the planet. The more the user throws wastes of different materials, the more marine debris accumulates, and the more it does, the longer it takes for the litter to bio-degrade in the ocean affecting widely the marine life. The second game utilizes AR to demonstrate the effect of humans on other species and visualize it in the player’s own environment. It shows birds flying around in the AR setup and the player gains points through getting rid of these birds with using the smokes of his own -virtual- jet engine. It highlights how much can our consumption to diesel -via aviation & other means of transportation- harm the environment. The third mini game, simulates forest fires caused by excessive barbeques and arson. The gameplay takes places in a forest, where the player is required to knock-out barbeque grills and burn trees around as much as possible. The idea of the game is to show to the app users how their actions affects the scenery around and destroys our terrains and other species’ natural habitats. The fourth mini-game takes places in a factory setup located on ice. The factory’s chimneys light up randomly according to a randomized timer. The player then races to get as many points as possible by clicking on the correct corresponding chimney to produce smokes before the iceberg melts completely and submerges the scene. The more smoke the player creates, the more points the player wins. The fifth scene comically revolves around a cow in space. Cows in general produce methane through their wastes that is known to be 84 times more dangerous when it comes to trapping the heat in the atmosphere and destroying our environment. Following this theme in the mini-game, the cow aims to destroy the plants falling from the sky through “releasing” toxic methane and trying to avoid butcher’s knives. Additionally, facts and statistics guide the player throughout the entire mini-game on how over-breading livestock could take up the world’s entire carbon budget.
