Galactic Defender is a VERY basic game engine - but that's the point! Galactic Defender is not just a game, it is a project - and you can be part of it. Have you ever wanted to be a games designer or programmer? Well, with Galactic Defender, here is your chance to be part of the process. Video games sometimes get a lot of criticism - but here at Monk Tech we believe that video games can be a great educator. Which is why we created this project - to encourage people to take part in the process of creating a game rather than just playing one. We grew up with the video games of the 80's and 90's, and in that spirit we have created the basic building blocks of a classic 2D shoot 'em up. But from here, we want your input. How can you take part? -Are you a writer? Can you come up with a story / narrative that we can incorporate into the game? -Are you an artist? Can you create the graphics? -Are you a programmer? Can you help develop the code? -Can you come up with the elements the make the game fun to play? To make a game it takes many different skills. Programming requires sequential, logical and structured thinking. Making a game realistic needs an understanding of maths and physics. But all of this 'science' needs to be woven into art with a story and graphics. And then all of that needs to come together in a way that speaks to the psychology of the player - it needs to be fun to the player, so you need to understand what people want. This game is free to download, it has no in-app purchases, and there are no hidden catches. Well, just one - you have to be part of what comes next....!
