Pro Soccer Leagues: World Cup 2018 (World Cup and others soccer leagues) is the 21st 2018 World Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of World Cup 2018. It is currently ongoing in Russia starting from 14 June and will end with the final match on 15 July 2018. Russia was awarded the hosting rights on 2 December 2010. This is the first World Cup to be held in Eastern Europe, and the eleventh time that it has been held in Europe. For the first time the tournament takes place on two continents – Europe and Asia. All but one of the stadium venues are in European Russia in order to keep travel time manageable. At an estimated cost of over $14.2 billion, it is the most expensive World Cup ever. The final tournament involves 32 national teams, which include 31 teams determined through qualifying competitions and the automatically qualified host team. Of the 32 teams, 20 make back-to-back appearances following the last tournament in 2014, including defending champions Germany, while both Iceland and Panama make their first appearances at a WorldCup 2018. A total of 64 matches will be played in 12 venues located in 11 cities. The final will take place on 15 July at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. In common usage, it refers to former and existing major football leagues in either country. - Goalkeeper: The aim is to prevent the ball from crossing their goal line. - Central defenders: Their primary role is to prevent the opposition from scoring. They are your best tacklers and have good marking abilities. Now-a-days managers prefer having defenders with good ball playing ability so that they can quickly launch a counter attack. - Fullbacks: Modern fullbacks are as much about attacking as they are about defending. Provides defensive cover while defending and making overlapping runs and delivering crosses while attacking. They do it all. - Defensive midfielder: The main job here is to provide extra defensive cover. The number 6 usually sits in between the central defenders a few yards further. Acts as a destroyer and disrupts the opposition play - Central midfielder: These are the engines. they start almost alongside the defensive mids, but go further forward while the team is attacking and provide an extra outlet for a pass or scoring goals by making late runs in the box. And along with that dropping back when the team losses the ball and performing the defensive duties. - Wingers: Provide width while attacking and sometimes also act as a second striker. Good at cutting inside and scoring and/or delivering crosses. - Attacking midfielder: They play at a more advanced position. They have great passing ability and an eye for goal too. They rarely perform any defensive duties. They too function as a second striker at times. - Striker: These are the main goal scorers.
