Plus or Minus, More or Less 1

This educational game teaches students to recognize and perform addition and subtraction in spoken English. It follows on from "The Numbers from 1 to 100 in English" and is a prelude to learning to multiply and divide in spoken English. Students hears addition and subtraction problems involving a number between one and one hundred and a number between one and ten to which they must pick the right answer from the possibilities displayed. Erroneous answers are corrected by showing the student an animated procedure for performing addition or subtraction which requires only the ability to count up or down in English. After six answers right in a row, Race Mode starts automatically. It asks questions rapidly to test the students' capability to perform addition and subtraction using spoken English at speed. At the end of the race, the student can see how well they have done relative to their other races. The game gradually focuses on any problems that the student has difficulty performing and speeds up as competence is gained.
