Le but du jeu GLID est d'obtenir un maximum de points en créant et validant des mots de 2 à 5 lettres à partir de celles figurant sur le champ de jeu. 16 lettres apparaissent en début de partie dans un bloc de 4 x 4 lettres. Aucun mot horizontal ou vertical n'existe encore dans ce bloc initial. A vous d'en créer. Pour cela, il vous faut déplacer les lignes horizontales ou verticales en cliquant sur les touches fléchées figurant à chaque extrémité. Toute la ligne se déplace de case en case, y compris les espaces plus tard laissés vides. Lorsque vous souhaitez valider un ou plusieurs mots créés, vous devez cliquer sur le bouton OK du jeu. GLID scanne alors toutes les lignes horizontales et verticales du champ de jeu et fait disparaître tous les mots que son dictionnaire reconnaît, en ajoutant au score les points acquis lors de cette manœuvre. Pour le comptage des points, et pour chaque mot validé, on additionne la valeur de chaque lettre (1 à 10) par le nombre de lettres du mot ; puis on multiplie le total de ces points par le nombre de mots trouvés et éliminés après validation. Il convient donc de déplacer les lignes et les lettres de manière stratégique, afin de former plusieurs mots dotés chacun de points suffisants. Mieux vaut en effet créer et valider ensemble les mots EX et XE que le seul mot LUXES pourtant plus long ; 88 points pour le premier cas, 70 pour le second. Vous disposez de 3 jetons "G" en début de partie. Vous perdez un jeton à chaque manche perdue, et vous en gagnez un à l'issue d'une manche réussie, dans la limite de 3 jetons maximum. Lorsqu'une manche est gagnée, les points de celle-ci sont doublés. La partie est définitivement perdue lorsque vous n'avez plus de jetons pour continuer. Gagner une manche consiste à éliminer du plateau toutes les lettres du jeu, par la création successive de mots. GLID scanne le jeu après chaque validation de mots, et stoppe immédiatement la manche si aucun mot autorisé n'est possible avec les lettres restantes du plateau ou s'il n'en reste qu'une. La partie peut toutefois continuer s'il vous reste suffisamment de jetons. Il est possible de sauvegarder une partie en cours associée au pseudo existant. Pour ce faire, il vous faut cliquer sur le bouton "SAVE" et quitter le jeu. A la prochaine ouverture du jeu, et si le pseudo saisi est le même que lors de la partie sauvegardée, GLID vous proposera de la restaurer. Attention, lorsque vous sauvegardez une partie et si vous continuez à jouer (validation de mots) après avoir cliqué sur "SAVE", GLID efface évidemment la sauvegarde. Vous pouvez jouer à plusieurs sur un même smartphone ou tablette et défiler des parties différentes. GLID associe en effet les parties existantes et/ou sauvegardées aux différents pseudos saisis. Le Highscore du jeu de GLID est sauvegardé sur Internet chaque fois qu'un score dépasse le meilleur. Il est chargé au démarrage de toute partie. Votre but: devenir le Maître du Jeu de GLID! Attention, when you save a game and if you continue to play (validation of words) after clicking on "SAVE", GLID obviously clears the backup.
