In 1970 John Conway discovered that starting with extremely simple rules, complex life-like structures could naturally evolve. The rules are: If there are three live cells next to an empty space, a new cell is born If a cell has fewer than two neighbors it dies of loneliness If a cell has more than three neighbors it dies of overcrowding Look out for the different structures that arise. Repeaters, gliders that slide across the screen, even glider generators that create an endless stream of gliders one after another.
